Here's an interesting and useful article from British Journal of Entomology
And Natural History titled "Why do names change?"

http://biostor.org/reference/129564 (if you can't read it, there are a
number of alternative formats available on the right of the page, including
plain text.)

I
?t starts, "Few things annoy amateur entomologists more than the changes in
names of famihar species. This paper is an attempt to describe some of the
problems, and the rules or abuse of them which cause the changes to occur.?"

?Good stuff.
