I thought this free 6 week (3 hours per week) course from the OU might
be of interest to Adastrans:

In case you're wondering why OU (among others) are starting to offer
free courses, here is some background:

http://www3.open.ac.uk/media/fullstory.aspx?id=26408

So it's well worth passing on the following link to friends, family and
colleagues with a curious mind and hunger for knowledge:

I did this mass on-line course in Nov-Jan.? It was a good experience, with? good examples chosen from around the world of ecosystem problems and even some possible solutions.? The Loess Plateau in China was particularly striking in showing how a failing ecosystem can be turned around remarkably quickly.? Assessment is by three multiple choice questions/week which are really quite tough.? There is a forum for students, but the number of people contributing made it difficult to carry on a real discussion.? I think there are plans to improve this aspect.? Altogethe a worthwhile course taking about 20 hours to complete.

I just signed up for the 'Fairness and Nature' Course. There looks like several courses relevant to wildlife and nature conservation.

I did 'Introduction to Humanities' and 'Psychology of Lifespan Development' and 'Introduction to Psychology' with the OU in the 1980s and it was a great learning experience for me. I recently asked if I could build on these with another course but was told I had reached the '16 year' rule making earlier Courses no longer applicable - a kind of built-in obsolescence.
